What is your organization doing to pursue sustainability?

Being a Green Building Council, entails you with a serious responsibility towards sustainability, and when you consider the booming economy of Qatar and the vast need to support the rapidly growing built environment, our commitments towards sustainability becomes more of a necessity.

This has shaped our efforts to establish QGBC as a sustainability knowledge base hub, that can support our continuous outreach efforts to various sectors within the construction industry, owners, developers, and end users.

Education is one of QGBC’s main focuses, and we strive to help create a sustainable construction sector in Qatar for the long-term. In order to bring these together, we work with our various local and international partners including USGBC to design courses tailored to the pressing needs of the Qatari construction and green building industries.

Over the last eight months since the launch of the education program, our experts and trainers have delivered live and online in-house workshops and training as well as provided support to training modules in major construction conferences in Qatar.

We take a different and a rather innovative approach to sustainability education by offering courses for people from all walks of life in Qatar.

We believe that achieving a sustainable environment is a collective effort. This approach not only helps the wider industry, but also provides us with a clear understanding of the existing a team, we strive in providing leadership and encouraging collaboration in conducting environmentally sustainable practices for green building design and development in Qatar.

What’s your most valuable tip or advice in regards to sustainability, green building or LEED?

Believe in the essence of sustainability as the core of life. Green buildings and certifications are not the end goal and target, they are tools/roadmaps for a better future.
